Uzbekistan spends 61.7bn soums to construction, reconstruction of roads in 1Q

Uzbekistan used 61.7 billion soums of capital investments to construction and reconstruction of automobile roads, which are parts of the Uzbek national highway, in the first quarter of 2013.
According to the Ministry of Economy and the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan, Republican Road Fund spent 44.1 billion soums and foreign loans, attracted under the guarantee of the government, - US$8.7 million.
Reconstruction of 42 km automobile road A373 “Tashkent-Osh”, which will bypass Qoqand, was completed. Construction of 8 km road on direction of Tashkent bypassing road were also completed.
Within the programe “On speeding up development of infrastructure, transport and communication construction in 2011-2015”, Uzbekistan modernized 45 km of railroads and produced 57 cargo and 7 passengers of wagons.
The country continued to implement project on modernization of Marakand-Karshi and Karshi-Termez railroads and US$2.4 million and US$2.6 million of capital investments were used respectively within these two projects.
