Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Chairperson of the Committee on International Affairs and Interparliamentary Relations of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Dilorom Fayzieva held online negotiations with the Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Lower House of the Spanish Parliament Pau Marie Close, Dunyo news agency reported.
At the meeting, it was noted that Uzbekistan is in favor of intensifying inter-parliamentary dialogue with Spain at various levels. It was emphasized that there are no political differences between the countries on topical issues on the bilateral and international agenda. It is gratifying that contacts are regularly maintained between the foreign affairs agencies of the two countries.
One of the positive indicators of friendly relations is that Uzbekistan and Spain on a permanent basis support each other’s candidacies for the UN institutions, OSCE and other international structures. In this regard, the Uzbek side expressed gratitude for the support of Uzbekistan’s candidacy for membership in the UN Human Rights Council for 2021-2023, as well as the development of the UN International Convention on the Rights of Youth.
It was noted that the Uzbek side attaches great importance to the development of cooperation with Spain within the framework of the interaction "Uzbekistan-European Union".
The Spanish side noted that at present the role and importance of inter-parliamentary ties in the development of interstate relations is increasing markedly. According to Pau Marie-Closet, it is necessary to continue harmonizing legislation, to participate in the development and expansion of the legal framework for cooperation, as well as inter-parliamentary ties in the field of science, education, culture and tourism.
The Spanish parliamentarian also expressed a special interest in enhancing multifaceted cooperation with Uzbekistan, including in the field of agriculture, water resources, construction of power plants based on alternative energy sources, transport, tourism and others.
In turn, the Uzbek side raised the issue of partnership in the field of labor migration, the creation of joint educational areas for the training of highly qualified specialists, and the establishment of direct flights between Tashkent and Madrid.
In general, the parties expressed their readiness to further develop inter-parliamentary cooperation and declared that there are great opportunities for the development of ties based on the principles of mutual respect.
