Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — According to data from the Customs Committee, 1,796 passenger cars were imported into Uzbekistan in January, with a total value of just over US$31 million.

Compared to January last year, imports decreased 7.14 times in monetary terms (from US$221 million) and 5.65 times in quantity (from 10,144 vehicles).

The sharpest decline was recorded in the gasoline-powered vehicle segment, where imports fell 6.73 times, from 7,810 to 1,159 units. The total cost of gasoline car imports dropped 7.27 times, while the average price per vehicle decreased by 7.3% to US$18,680.

The largest decline was observed in hybrid vehicle imports, with only 24 units brought into the country—31.2 times fewer than a year earlier. The total value of hybrid imports fell 16 times to US$950,000. However, the average price of a hybrid vehicle nearly doubled, reaching US$39,600.

The share of traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles in total imports dropped from 70.7% to 64.5%, while hybrids saw an even steeper decline from 7.39% to 1.34%. In contrast, electric vehicles expanded their market share, accounting for 34.1% of total imports, compared to 15.6% a year earlier. Overall, more than 35% of all imported cars belonged to the new energy vehicle (NEV) category.

Additionally, Uzbekistan did not import a single diesel-powered passenger car in January 2025, whereas a year earlier, eight diesel vehicles worth a total of US$4.27 million were brought into the country.
