Uzbekistan, Shanxi Discuss Industrial and Investment Projects

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan and China’s Shanxi province have discussed prospects for expanding investment and industrial cooperation during a roundtable held at the Embassy of Uzbekistan, the Dunyo news agency reported.

The meeting brought together representatives of the commercial department and leading companies from Shanxi, including Shanxi Construction Investment, Shanxi Heavy Machinery Group, Shanxi Huayuan International Land Port Group, China Railway Third Bureau Group and Shennong Technology Group.

The sides discussed an upcoming visit of a business delegation to Uzbekistan, potential areas of cooperation with local companies, and перспективные joint projects. As part of the visit program, representatives of Shanxi province are expected to travel to the Syrdarya and Surkhandarya regions.

Participants were also briefed on the progress of large-scale reforms in Uzbekistan, the investment climate, and the opportunities available within free economic and industrial zones.

Located in northern China, Shanxi is known for its развитая mining and heavy industry sectors, as well as energy and metallurgy. The province ranks first in China in coal reserves and has significant deposits of bauxite, titanium, vanadium, cobalt, copper, methane, and natural gas.

In addition, Shanxi is among the country’s leading producers of potatoes, corn, and wheat.
