Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a law “On Amendments and Additions to the Criminal, Criminal Procedure Codes of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Code of Administrative Responsibility of the Republic of Uzbekistan”.
According to the amendment made by the Law to the Code of Administrative Responsibility, the dissemination of false information, including in the media, telecommunication networks or the World Wide Web, leading to humiliation of the dignity of a person or discrediting a person, entails the imposition of a fine in the amount of 50 basic estimated value (now – 11.15 million soums).
If the disseminated information contains a threat to public order or security, a fine in the amount of 100 BEV (now – 22.3 million soums) is imposed on the person disseminating this information.
According to the amendment to the Criminal Code, the dissemination of false information committed after the application of an administrative penalty for the same actions is punishable by a fine of up to 400 BEV (now - 89.2 million soums) or restriction of freedom for up to three years.
