Uzbekistan Sets New Record for Daily Electricity Consumption

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 11 March 2026, Uzbekistan’s power system recorded a new daily electricity consumption and peak load record for March. Total national consumption reached 267 million kWh, exceeding the same period last year by 14 million kWh, according to the Ministry of Energy.

During evening peak hours, the system load reached 12,680 MW at 18:12, 480 MW higher than in March 2025. Over the 24-hour period, power plants across the country generated 272 million kWh, 12 million kWh more than the previous year.

The share of renewable energy continues to grow. On this day, solar and wind power accounted for 20.9% of total generation, reaching 35% of the electricity balance during daylight hours. Specifically, solar and wind contributed 14.3% of the total electricity output.

This record reflects both rising energy consumption in the country and the active integration of renewable energy into the national power balance, enhancing system resilience and reducing pressure on conventional generation sources.
