Uzbekistan Sends Humanitarian Aid to Earthquake Victims in Afghanistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Humanitarian aid has been provided to the populations of Kunar and Nangarhar provinces in Afghanistan at the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

A shipment totaling approximately 300 tons, including food, medicines, and medical supplies, was delivered to Balkh province.

The aid handover ceremony took place in the city of Hairaton at the premises of the company Astras. Participants included the Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan, Ismatulla Irgashev; the Khokim of Surkhandarya region, Ulugbek Kasymov; Deputy Governor of Balkh Province, Nurulhodi Abu Idris; and other officials from both countries.

The delivered aid included flour, rice, sugar, canned meat, pasta and confectionery products, vegetable oil, instant food, red beans and mung beans, bottled drinking water, 5,000 bandages, as well as over 10 tons of medicines and medical supplies.

Afghan representatives expressed deep gratitude for the assistance, emphasizing its vital importance for the affected population.

Earlier reports indicated that the earthquake claimed more than 2,200 lives and injured 3,600 people in the eastern mountainous regions of Afghanistan.
