On 22 May, the first half of the 50-tonne aid consisting of tents, mattresses, pillows and foodstuffs was delivered from Tashkent to Urumqi airport.

At the humanitarian aid handing over ceremony, it was noted that the peoples of the two countries were bound with friendly and partnership ties.

"We highly value material and moral support of Uzbekistan at the time when our people are experiencing hardships," deputy director of foreign affairs department of China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Ali Abdulkhamid said.
