Uzbekistan sends humanitarian aid to Afghanistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Following the directive of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, another batch of humanitarian aid has been delivered to Afghanistan’s Balkh province.

In celebration of Navruz and the upcoming Eid al-Fitr (Ramazan Hayit), Uzbekistan has sent nearly 200 tons of food supplies as a gesture of generosity and support for the brotherly Afghan people.

The shipment, consisting of essential food items, was handed over at the premises of the Astras company in the city of Hairatan. The handover ceremony was attended by Uzbekistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan Ismatilla Irgashev, the governor of Surkhandarya region Ulugbek Kosimov, as well as representatives from the Ministries of Defense, Transport, Construction and Public Utilities, and Foreign Affairs. The event also saw the participation of Balkh province governor Mohammad Yousuf Wafa and other officials from both countries.

The humanitarian aid package included flour, wheat, pasta, vegetable oil, sugar, instant food products, red beans, and mung beans.

As part of the visit, a bilateral meeting was held in Mazar-i-Sharif to discuss further cooperation between the two countries. Special attention was given to the construction of the Mausoleum of Imam Bukhari, a project being carried out in Afghanistan with the support of Uzbekistan.

Afghan officials expressed deep gratitude to the President and people of Uzbekistan for their assistance and conveyed warm greetings ahead of Eid al-Fitr.

During the visit, the Uzbek delegation also reviewed new projects being implemented in the region.
