Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As new methods and means of combating drugs are introduced into practice, drug couriers are also beginning to resort to unexpected methods of hiding drugs. And this, in turn, requires disproportionately more attention, vigilance, and diligence of the employees of the state customs service.

As a result of an operational event carried out by employees of the Airitom border customs post, the Surkhandarya Regional Customs Administration, in cooperation with the Border Troops of the State Security Service, another attempt was made to illegally move a large consignment of narcotic drugs.

A cargo vehicle that arrived at the territory of the customs post was supposed to transit through the territory of our republic and leave for the neighboring country through the border customs post “Dustlik” of the Andijan region. According to the documents, it was loaded with more than 22 tons of potatoes in 533 bags.

During the examination, the x-ray images of the cargo raised doubts among the customs officers.

As a result of subsequent checks, 1305 pieces of skillfully disguised potato-shaped bundles were found in 38 bags. When opening these bundles, it was found that a total of 154 kilograms 90 grams of hashish was disguised in this way.

At present, the customs authorities have initiated a criminal case on the revealed fact and investigative actions are underway.
