Uzbekistan, Russia launch the "Class!" project

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Ministry of Public Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation and Alisher Usmanov’s charitable foundation "Art, Science and Sport" are launching a joint project "Class!", aimed at improving the quality of teaching the Russian language and general education subjects in Russian in the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The signing of a memorandum on the implementation of a joint Russian-Uzbek project took place on 11 October in the city of Tashkent during the visit of an official delegation of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The program to improve the quality of teaching the Russian language in Uzbekistan will not only expand humanitarian cooperation between the republic and Russia, but also create favorable conditions for high-level education in Russian in educational institutions of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The operator of the program is the Russian State Pedagogical University named A.I. Herzen and the A. Avloni Institute for Retraining and Advanced Training of Leaders and Specialists of the Public Education System, which will ensure the work of qualified Russian specialists (teachers and methodologists) in regional centers for advanced training and retraining of pedagogical personnel of the public education system and schools of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

At the first stage of the project "Class!" 32 Russian methodologists came to Uzbekistan to monitor the current level of Russian language proficiency among teachers and students of local schools. Russian experts will assess the quality of teaching the Russian language in Uzbekistan, as well as develop recommendations for foreign colleagues on teaching it.

It is planned that in 2021, 100 Russian specialists will come to the republic. The number of specialists sent will increase by 100 people every year. According to the results of all stages of the program, about 30 thousand Uzbek teachers will be able to pass it.

During the signing of the memorandum, the founder of the Art, Science and Sport Foundation, Alisher Usmanov, sent a video message to the participants of the event:

“Russia and Uzbekistan are inextricably linked with each other by a common history and cultural heritage. I myself graduated from a Russian-language school, so I am especially pleased to support such a long-term and strategic initiative of the Government of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation to teach the Russian language in my historical homeland. I am sure that this is not just support for education, but also support for our common traditions, our talents. This initiative will be successful and will be in demand among the entire population of Uzbekistan, so I wish her great success."

As part of the event, the Russian delegation was familiarized with the activities of the 129th school in Tashkent.

Representatives of the ministries presented each other with memorable gifts.
