Uzbekistan, Romania discuss issues of trade-economic cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 7 December 2022, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania Daniel Cristian Ciobanu.

At the meeting, topical issues on the bilateral agenda were considered, the results of cooperation in the political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres in 2022 were summed up, and priority areas for interaction for 2023 were identified.

The Ambassador emphasized that the Romanian side highly appreciates the large-scale reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan, which give impetus to the development of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.

It was noted that, despite the observed positive growth rate of foreign economic indicators, the current volume of trade does not correspond to the existing potentials of the two countries. In this context, an exchange of views took place on improving the joint mechanisms of economic diplomacy, in particular through the resumption of the activities of the Uzbek-Romanian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation.

Proposals were discussed on building up inter-parliamentary dialogue, implementing projects in the areas of healthcare, mechanical engineering and the chemical industry.

Mutual interest was expressed in expanding the legal base of interstate relations.
