Uzbekistan Returns to Standard 100-Cubic-Meter Gas Consumption Base for March
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Ministry of Energy has confirmed that the temporary expansion of the natural gas consumption baseline for the heating season will not be extended into March 2026.
According to the Ministry's press service, the elevated consumption tier of 500 cubic meters per month, which was implemented to support households from November through February, expired on 1 March. The baseline has now reverted to the standard non-winter norm of 100 cubic meters.
Under the current pricing structure, natural gas is billed at 1,000 soums per cubic meter for consumption up to the 100-cubic-meter threshold. For usage ranging from 101 to 2,500 cubic meters, the rate increases to 1,800 soums per cubic meter.
Officials noted that in 2025, the winter baseline was extended until April 1 due to unseasonably cold weather; however, no such extension has been granted for the current year.
The Ministry of Energy also reiterated that, per presidential directives, monthly subsidies remain available for low-income families to offset energy costs. These compensations cover electricity usage of up to 150 kWh beyond the 200 kWh base, as well as gas consumption exceeding the standard norm—up to 250 cubic meters during winter months and up to 150 cubic meters during the remainder of the year.
