Uzbekistan Repatriates Over 3,700 Citizens Stranded Abroad in 2025
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In 2025, the Agency for Migration of the Republic of Uzbekistan facilitated the return of 3,709 citizens who found themselves in difficult financial and personal circumstances while abroad.
The repatriation efforts covered 22 foreign countries and were conducted as part of humanitarian measures aimed at protecting the rights and interests of Uzbek labor migrants.
A total of 15.9 billion soums from the Migration Fund was allocated to cover transportation, medical, organizational, and related expenses.
A significant milestone in these efforts was the charitable initiative “Return to the Homeland,” held for the first time from July 30 to August 30, coinciding with the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons. During this campaign, 1,300 Uzbek citizens in urgent need of assistance abroad were brought home.
Special attention was given to citizens requiring medical care. Throughout the year, 66 individuals were repatriated following serious accidents or illnesses. Of these, 45 were transported lying down in specialized medical vehicles, and 21 were accompanied by medical staff from the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan.
The Migration Agency notes that citizens facing difficulties during employment abroad can access detailed information on assistance procedures and available support measures through the agency’s official information channels.
