Uzbekistan Ready to Expand Cooperation with Afghanistan in Logistics, Energy, and Education

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bakhtiyor Saidov, held talks with Afghanistan’s Acting Prime Minister, Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund.

During the meeting, the Uzbek foreign minister reaffirmed Uzbekistan’s commitment to developing good-neighborly and mutually beneficial relations with Afghanistan. The two sides discussed in detail ways to enhance trade, economic, and humanitarian cooperation, as well as to strengthen regional transport connectivity.

Particular attention was given to advancing the Uzbekistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan railway project. The signing of the related Framework Agreement was described as an important step toward regional integration.

Bakhtiyor Saidov emphasized that Uzbekistan is ready to engage in active partnership with Afghanistan in the areas of infrastructure development, logistics, energy, and education. He noted that Afghanistan should play a vital role as a key link between Central and South Asia.
