Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 15 February, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a law on the ratification of an intergovernmental agreement with Turkey on the transfer of convicts.

The law was adopted by the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis in October last year, and considered and approved by the Senate in December. The signing of the Agreement took place on 30 March 2022 during the official visit of the President of the Republic of Turkey to Uzbekistan.

This document will allow citizens of Uzbekistan and Turkey to serve their sentences in their homeland. The adoption of this law will help ensure even more effective protection of the rights and interests of citizens, and will also help strengthen the positive image of our country in the international arena.
