Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In Uzbekistan, individuals will soon be able to purchase cash foreign currency without presenting identification documents for amounts up to US$500. Currently, the limit is set at US$100.

The change is included in a draft resolution from the Central Bank of Uzbekistan and the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the General Prosecutor’s Office. The draft amends the internal control rules aimed at preventing money laundering, terrorist financing, and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction in commercial banks.

Once adopted, the new regulation will allow cash foreign currency purchases of up to US$500 without the need to present ID, simplifying the procedure for individuals and providing greater flexibility for personal foreign currency operations.
