Uzbekistan Puts Fuel and Energy System on High Alert Amid Sharp Cold Snap
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan has announced that the country’s fuel and energy system has been switched to an enhanced operating режим in response to a sharp drop in air temperatures expected from today.
The ministry said that additional measures are being taken amid the cold weather to ensure stable and uninterrupted energy supply. Extraordinary technical inspections have been carried out at electricity, heat, and gas facilities, while production and supply capacities have been adjusted to current weather conditions. Responsible services are operating around the clock in an intensified mode.
The ministry warned that electricity and natural gas consumption is expected to rise during the cold spell. Temporary technical restrictions may occur in certain regions, but the uninterrupted supply of energy resources to households and social facilities remains the top priority.
Consumers have been advised to use electricity and gas rationally, operate heating equipment under normal conditions, and pay attention to heat retention in residential premises. According to specialists, these measures help reduce pressure on the energy system while maintaining comfortable indoor temperatures.
The ministry also reiterated the importance of complying with safety regulations. Heating appliances should not be left unattended, premises should be regularly ventilated during their use, and the condition of chimneys and ventilation systems should be monitored. To prevent carbon monoxide poisoning, citizens were urged not to use open flames or faulty equipment in enclosed spaces and, where possible, to install carbon monoxide detectors.
For all inquiries, requests, and suggestions related to electricity and gas supply, citizens can contact dispatch services around the clock: for electricity supply at 1154, and for gas supply at 1104 and 104.
