Uzbekistan produces over 25,000 tonnes of cocoons

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Silkworm breeders of Uzbekistan produced over 25,000 tonnes of cocoons this season and fully carried out their annual contractual obligations.

Silkworm breeders from Samarkand, Surkhandarya, Bukhara, Tashkent, Kashkadarya and Ferghana regions were among the first regions, which executed contractual obligations, UzA reported.

Silkworm breeders from Kattakurgan, Narpay, Kumkurgan, Denau, Gijduvan, Jondor, Kasbi, Kasan, Besharik, Buka, Yuqori Chirchiq, Amudarya and Beruniy districts produced 60-66 kg of cocoons from each box of silkworm eggs.

Ministry of Agriculture and Water Management of Uzbekistan said that over 45,000 farms bred 447,000 boxes of silkworm eggs and in average received 57.5 kg of cocoons. Main part of yield was sold as high quality.

The report said that Aralbak farm of Chimbay district received 83 kg of cocoon from each box, Nizom Tong Shabadasi of Jalalkuduk district – 82 kg, Uluasar Jalolhon of Mirzachul district – 76 kg and Haydar bobo Bobomurodov of Kasan district – 75 kg.
