Uzbekistan Presents Women’s Empowerment Initiatives at Global Summit in Beijing

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 13–14 October 2025, the Global Women’s Summit was held in Beijing under the initiative of President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping and UN Women.

The summit, held ahead of the 30th anniversary of the 1995 Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, focused on strengthening gender equality, enhancing women’s social and economic participation, and expanding their role in global development.

Delegations from more than 100 countries took part, including Uzbekistan’s delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister and Chairperson of the Committee on Family and Women’s Affairs Zulaykho Makhkamova. The delegation also included Deputy Chairperson of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan Shakhlo Ibragimova.

The Uzbek delegation presented national priorities and practical initiatives aimed at supporting women and empowering them in various sectors.

Discussions at the forum covered the use of digital technologies, the development of a “green” economy, support for women’s entrepreneurship, STEM education, and the use of international grants and capacity-building programs for women.

In addition, the Uzbek delegation held a meeting with Shen Yueyue, Vice Chairperson of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and Head of the All-China Women’s Federation, during which the parties discussed ways to implement the summit’s outcomes and accelerate the comprehensive development of women.
