Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The second round of political consultations between the foreign ministries of Uzbekistan and Portugal took place via videoconference.
According to the Uzbek Foreign Ministry, the delegations of the parties were headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Gayrat Fazilov and Director General for Foreign Policy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Portugal Madalena Fischer.
During the talks, the parties discussed the state and prospects for the development of relations between Uzbekistan and Portugal in the political, trade, economic, investment, cultural, humanitarian and other fields.
The parties spoke in favor of further strengthening bilateral political dialogue by organizing mutual visits at various levels, making consultations between the foreign ministries of a regular nature, as well as deepening inter-parliamentary ties.
The main attention was paid to enhancing trade, economic and investment ties. Issues of imparting new dynamics to the work of bilateral mechanisms and strengthening the legal framework of cooperation, developing direct ties between businesspeople and sectoral departments were discussed.
Views were exchanged on strengthening cooperation in the scientific and educational field, including the establishment of partnerships between higher education institutions, research and analytical centers of the two countries.
The Portuguese side was invited to international events, forums and festivals to be held in Uzbekistan this year.
