Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan plans to toughen penalties for driving while intoxicated.
The Road Traffic Safety Serviceof the Department of Public Security of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan is developing a draft law on amendments to the Code of Administrative Responsibility, which provide for tougher penalties for violating traffic rules.
In particular, the amendments propose to toughen the punishment for driving while intoxicated (Article 131 of the Administrative Code). It is planned to increase the fine from 25 to 50 basic estimated values with the deprivation of the right to drive a car for 5 years (now - from 1.5 to 3 years).
Also, for evading car drivers and other road users from passing an examination for intoxication (Article 136 of the Code of Administrative Offenses), it is proposed to deprive a driver's license for 3 years (now - from 1.5 to 3 years).
