Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan plans to allocate 3 trillion soums for the fight against coronavirus and the purchase of a vaccine in 2021, the Minister of Finance of Uzbekistan Timur Ishmetov announced this today.

As a reminder, the Ministry of Innovative Development and the Ministry of Health have launched the third phase of clinical trials of a coronavirus vaccine developed by Zhifei Longcom Biopharmaceutical Co., Ltd. based on the development of the Institute of Microbiology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

In early December, Uzbekistan received samples of the Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine from Russia. Samples of the Sputnik V vaccine will be used in Uzbekistan for testing required for registration. It is expected that Uzbekistan will establish industrial production of the vaccine in the country.
