Uzbekistan plans to adopt programme on modernization of water supply networks

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan plans to adopt a programme on expansion and modernization of water supply networks in rural areas.

In next five years, it is planned to construct and reconstruct about 9,000 km of water supply networks, 1,400 wells and 3,600 water facilities.

This will allow additionally to provide clean drinking water to 3,2 million citizens of Karakalpakstan, Andijan, Jizzakh, Navoi, Syrdarya, Samarkand, Tashkent and Khorezm regions.

This will also help to improve the figure on supply of clean water from 67% to 84%.

It is planned to create Ministry of utilities and special fund Toza Suv (Clean Water) under the Ministry of Finance.
