Uzbekistan plans to abolish order for obtaining permission to travel abroad

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan is planning to improve the passport and visa system and the system for arrival and departure.

The reforms will be conducted within the framework of action strategy on further development of Uzbekistan in 2017-2021.

A draft decree of the President of Uzbekistan “On action strategy on further developing of Uzbekistan” was published at the single portal of interactive state services for discussion.

According to the draft decree, the ministries and departments of Uzbekistan will prepare proposals on reforming the passport and visa system and the system for arrival and departure in the third quarter of 2017.

The Government of Uzbekistan plans to introduce an order of issuing internal and external passports. At the same time, the Government plans to abolish the order for obtaining permission to travel abroad.

Within the strategy, it is planned to introduce an order in line with which the courts will be able to ban persons to travel abroad based on legal grounds.

The Uzbek government also intends to simplify the system of passport control at airports and train stations through the introduction of modern information technologies for data processing, automated passport control booths and face-recognition system.

“Green” and “red” corridors for individuals will be created at customs control zones at airports and trains stations.
