Uzbekistan Plans Mandatory Labeling of Bloggers’ Ads
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan plans to introduce mandatory labeling of online advertising published by bloggers in order to track their advertising activity and related income.
Kamola Akhmedzhanova, Chief State Tax Inspector at the Economic Analysis and Shadow Economy Monitoring Department of the Tax Committee, announced the initiative at a press center of Sputnik Uzbekistan.
According to her, the labeling system will help determine how much advertising bloggers publish and the income generated from such content.
To implement the initiative, authorities plan to deploy an information system equipped with machine learning elements that will independently analyze relevant data. The draft document required for the implementation of the initiative is being developed jointly with the Ministry of Justice.
The Tax Committee confirmed that the draft document is currently under preparation.
Earlier, in February, a delegation from the agency studied Russia’s experience in tax monitoring of bloggers’ and other online creators’ income in order to apply best practices when establishing a similar system in Uzbekistan.
