Uzbekistan Pavilion Awarded Best in Theme Presentation at EXPO 2025

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Uzbekistan Pavilion at EXPO 2025 in Osaka has been awarded the highest honor in its category — a gold medal for “Best Theme Presentation,” the Head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan, Saida Mirziyoyeva, announced on her Telegram channel.

“We presented the concept ‘Garden of Knowledge: A Laboratory for the Society of the Future,’ reflecting the harmony of tradition and innovation, and this idea has received a wide response from the global community,” she noted.

Saida Mirziyoyeva expressed gratitude to the entire team and international partners for their inspiration, professionalism, and belief in the project.

The pavilion project was implemented by the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Fund in collaboration with the architectural bureau ATELIER BRÜCKNER. It serves as a space for dialogue between tradition and modern technologies within the global exhibition theme, “Designing Future Societies.”

The architectural concept draws inspiration from the caravanserais of the Great Silk Road, where travelers exchanged knowledge and experiences. Its structure combines natural materials, interactive media installations, and elements of Uzbek craftsmanship, creating the “Garden of Knowledge” — a space for education, innovation, and international cooperation.

A central feature of the exhibition is a 360-degree multimedia platform — the first interactive zone of its kind in Japan — allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the history of Uzbekistan’s modern transformations in just three minutes.

Another striking element is the “Forest of Columns” on the rooftop terrace — an architectural interpretation of the Juma Mosque in Khiva, constructed from eco-friendly wood and equipped with NFC tags to trace the origin of materials.

The pavilion’s interiors are adorned with 11,000 handmade turquoise tiles crafted by ceramicist Abdulvahid Bukhoriy Karimov, giving the space a distinct national character and emphasizing the connection between art and Uzbekistan’s traditional craftsmanship.
