Uzbekistan Passenger Car Production Surges 41.5% in January 2026

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s automotive industry recorded a strong start to the year, with passenger car production climbing to 22,099 units in January 2026. This represents a 41.5% increase compared to the 15,613 vehicles manufactured during the same period in 2025, according to the National Statistics Committee.

The most significant percentage growth occurred in the specialized vehicle segment. Production in this category more than tripled, rising from 645 units in January 2025 to 2,062 units in 2026—a surge of 219.7%.

Performance across individual models remained largely positive. Output for the Cobalt rose by 23.6% to 6,993 units, while Damas production grew by 31.2% to reach 3,628 units. The Onix model also saw a substantial gain, with production increasing 35% to 1,974 vehicles.

The SUV and crossover segment maintained its momentum, as Tracker production grew by 42.4% to 1,900 units. Among international brands assembled in the country, KIA saw a 16.2% increase to 2,298 units, and Chery production rose by 27.4% to 757 vehicles.

Growth was particularly pronounced for the Haval and BYD brands. Haval production tripled, jumping from 373 to 1,135 units, while BYD output increased by 68.6%, rising from 802 to 1,352 vehicles.

The commercial vehicle sector also trended upward during the first month of the year. Truck production increased by 29.4%, with 233 units manufactured compared to 180 units in January 2025.
