Uzbekistan Participates in the Global Forum on Transport Connectivity in Istanbul

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — From 27 to 29 June, Istanbul hosted the Global Forum on Transport Connectivity, which brought together heads of transport ministries from more than fifty countries, representatives of international organizations, and leading companies in the logistics, construction, and finance sectors.

The forum was officially opened by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of the Republic of Turkey, who emphasized that the development of transport infrastructure not only underpins the economic prosperity of nations but also drives their cultural and scientific advancement.

Uzbekistan was represented at the forum by Deputy Minister of Transport Jasurbek Choriev. During the event, he took part in several panel discussions and delivered a presentation on the “Trans-Caspian East–West Middle Corridor” initiative. He also participated in a roundtable entitled “Transforming Regional Cooperation Potential into Practical Action: A Unified, Digital, Transparent, and Open Corridor.”

Among the other participants were Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, Azerbaijani Minister of Transport and Digital Development Rashad Nabiyev, World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia Antonella Bassani, and Tatiana Molchan, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe.

At the conclusion of the forum, the parties agreed on several key measures. It was decided to hold annual ministerial meetings among member states of the Middle Corridor to harmonize technical standards, streamline transit procedures, and unify customs documentation. They also endorsed a joint roadmap for the digitalization of Middle Corridor logistics, which includes the adoption of electronic consignment notes (e‑CMR), the creation of digital customs systems, and the development of real‑time cargo‑tracking platforms.

Special attention was given to the joint implementation of infrastructure projects designed to simplify international transport procedures. Furthermore, the participants agreed to draft bilateral and multilateral agreements aimed at removing barriers and establishing a more efficient framework for cross‑border logistics.
