Uzbekistan Opens Office for Joint Project with Azerbaijan: Ustyurt Operating Company

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Today, the office of Ustyurt Operating Company officially began operations. The company was established as part of a cooperative initiative between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.

Previously, the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan, SOCAR, and JSC “Uzbekneftegaz” signed a Production Sharing Agreement covering geological exploration and subsequent hydrocarbon extraction in the Ustyurt oil and gas region.

The opening of the project operator’s office marks the transition of the initiative into an active implementation phase. Professional teams have already been assembled, the necessary permits obtained, and preparations for field geological exploration work have begun.

Ustyurt Operating Company will introduce modern technologies, expand production capacity, and strengthen the country’s resource base, contributing to long-term energy sustainability.

The project also promotes the expansion of bilateral relations and reinforces the institutional framework for cooperation between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.
