Uzbekistan National Football Team Loses 1:2 to Uruguay in Friendly Match
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Uzbekistan national football team was defeated 1:2 by Uruguay in a friendly match held in Malaysia.
In the first half, Uruguay dominated possession, though Uzbekistan created several dangerous chances closer to halftime.
In the 51st minute, Uruguay took the lead following a quick counterattack, with Facundo Torres scoring the goal. After conceding, Uzbekistan intensified their efforts and had an opportunity to equalize: Eldor Shomurodov’s header was saved by the Uruguayan goalkeeper.
However, the visitors continued to threaten with fast attacks, doubling their advantage in the 60th minute through a goal by Juan Manuel Sanabria. In the 72nd minute, Uzbekistan generated another chance, but the shot was weak and caught by the goalkeeper.
In the 82nd minute, Ruslanbek Jiyanov scored for Uzbekistan, narrowing the deficit. Despite continued efforts in the remaining minutes, Uzbekistan could not equalize, and Uruguay secured a 2:1 victory.
