Uzbekistan National Football Team Drops Two Places in FIFA Rankings to 52nd
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In the January update of the FIFA World Rankings, the Uzbekistan national football team fell two positions, now occupying 52nd place, while maintaining its previous points total of 1,462.03.
Since the last ranking update on 19 November, most changes occurred among teams that participated in the African Cup of Nations (AFCON). Uzbekistan, along with other teams that did not play official ranking-affecting matches, retained their points, which explains the stability in their score despite the drop in position.
The top of the global ranking remains led by Spain, Argentina, and France. Also in the top ten are England, Brazil, Portugal, the Netherlands, Morocco—which rose three places after reaching the AFCON final—Belgium, and Germany, both of which dropped one spot.
Uzbekistan’s historical high in the FIFA rankings is 45th, achieved in November 2006, while its lowest ranking is 119th, recorded in November 1996.
In the Asian rankings, Uzbekistan is fifth, behind Japan (19th, −1), Iran (20th), South Korea (22nd, unchanged), and Australia (27th, −1). Following Uzbekistan are Qatar (56th, −2), Iraq (58th), and Saudi Arabia (61st, −1).
