Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan may start granting citizenship in a simplified manner for large investors.

The Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan has developed a relevant bill.

The document proposes to amend the law "On Citizenship of the Republic of Uzbekistan". In accordance with the amendments, the simplified procedure for admission to the citizenship of the Republic of Uzbekistan will apply to foreign citizens and stateless persons who have contributed capital in the equivalent of at least US$1 million to investment projects implemented on the territory of Uzbekistan, as well as honored scientists, athletes, cultural and art workers.

Investment certificates will be provided by the Central Securities Depository or the public services agency.
