Uzbekistan, Malaysia Explore Joint Agricultural Projects
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbek Ambassador Karomiddin Gadoev held talks with Muhammad Zabawi Abdul Ghani, Director General of the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI), on expanding bilateral agricultural cooperation.
The discussions focused on joint research on vegetable and melon crops, the exchange of high-quality seeds and seedlings, and the development of new varieties suited to Uzbekistan’s climate. Uzbek specialists showed particular interest in Malaysia’s experience with high-yield rice cultivation, including drought- and salt-tolerant varieties.
Planned initiatives include the exchange of watermelon and seedless melon seeds, laboratory and field experiments, the implementation of innovative agrotechnologies in agroclusters and farms, and professional exchanges. The Director General of MARDI also announced a planned visit to Uzbekistan in August to finalize joint projects and agreements.
Founded in 1969, MARDI is Malaysia’s leading agricultural research center, specializing in the adoption of modern technologies and solutions for farmers.
