Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 8 April 2021, the 16th round of Uzbekistan – Latvia political consultations took place via videoconference, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Uzbekistan delegation was led by the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Farhod Arziyev, and the delegation of Latvia by the Under-Secretary of State – Political Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Janis Mazeiks.

The parties discussed the current state and prospects for the development of relations between Uzbekistan and Latvia, as well as current issues on the international and regional agenda.

The sides noted the effectiveness of regular dialogue at various levels, both in the bilateral format and within the framework of international organizations.

The main attention was paid to the issues of further strengthening cooperation in the trade-economic, investment, transport-logistics spheres, increasing interregional cooperation, attracting leading Latvian companies to implement joint projects in Uzbekistan.

The mutual interest in strengthening the inter-parliamentary dialogue, as well as developing cooperation in tourism, culture, education and healthcare was confirmed.

Certain aspects of interaction within the UN, OSCE, EU and other international and regional structures were analyzed in detail.

The parties exchanged views on enhancing the legal framework of relations, as well as on the schedule of the upcoming joint events.

Following the consultations, the parties confirmed their readiness for the progressive development of cooperation, filling it with concrete practical content.
