Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 19 November, in the format of a teleconference, negotiations were held between the Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov with the Acting Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Artem Novikov.

During the talks, a wide range of issues of economic partnership between the two countries was discussed and prospects for further expansion of cooperation were considered.

Mutual commitment was expressed to the accelerated completion of work on the approval of the "Road Map" for expanding and deepening cooperation in the field of industrial cooperation, as well as readiness to start practical implementation of the agreed initiatives.

Further steps for the development of investment cooperation in the field of processing, packaging and joint export of fruits and vegetables, production of textile products, agricultural machinery and building materials were considered.

The agenda also touched upon the issues of practical interaction in order to maintain the high dynamics of the indicators of mutual trade, in particular, through the creation of trade and logistics centers in the border regions of the two countries and the implementation of consistent measures to eliminate existing trade barriers.

In addition, the prospects for cooperation in the field of transport and logistics were discussed, namely the organization of combined cargo transportation through the territories of the two countries and promising measures to introduce public-private partnership mechanisms for the implementation of projects to modernize road infrastructure in order to maximize the efficient use of existing road transport corridors.

The parties also agreed on the creation of a working group at the level of the heads of the ministries of transport of the two countries to develop promising proposals to strengthen the transport connectivity of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.

As a result of the negotiations, an agreement was reached on establishing a mechanism for conducting regular extended negotiations via videoconferencing with the involvement of relevant ministries and departments of the two countries for high-quality and timely implementation of the agreements reached. The first negotiations in a similar format are scheduled for early December this year.
