Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan: studying the works of great poets brings peoples closer together

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 3 November 2020, an international online conference was held dedicated to the publication of the book of the great poet and scientist Alisher Navoi "Khams" in the Kazakh language and the works of the great Abai in the Uzbek language. The conference was organized within the framework of the celebration of the Day of the Uzbek language in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The event was attended by Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva, Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbaev, members of legislative bodies, ambassadors of foreign countries, prominent literary scholars, translators, representatives of the general public.

The speakers noted that Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan have been linked by ties of kinship and friendship since ancient times. The formation and development of both peoples took place on the same territory, in practically the same historical conditions. And today, thanks to the personal efforts of the leaders of our countries - the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, relations between the countries have been raised to a qualitatively new level, including through the development of ties in the cultural and humanitarian spheres.

In this regard, it was emphasized that the work of Navoi and Abai, who lived and created their works in different centuries, are united by the continuity of universal human values, humanism, the reformatory spirit of poetry. And today, a joint study of the work of these great poets, philosophers and public figures presents an opportunity to further strengthen ties between countries. Thus, the publication of the book of the great poet and scientist Alisher Navoi "Khamsa" in the Kazakh language and the works of the great Abay in the Uzbek language was another important step towards further rapprochement of the two fraternal peoples.

During the event, special emphasis was also placed on the possibility of Uzbekistan joining the International Turkic Academy. In this regard, the Kazakh side noted that this authoritative international institution has established ties with about 40 scientific research institutes, Turkic centers. Along with this, the Academy is carrying out a project with the participation of about 100 foreign scholars of Turkic studies. And this meeting will also serve as a step on this path.

Representatives of the Parliament of Kazakhstan also emphasized that the Kazakh people are well acquainted with the work of Navoi. After all, as the sun is common, so the work of poets and writers is the common heritage of all mankind.

At the end of the event, the presentation of the book of the great poet and scientist Alisher Navoi "Khamsa" in the Kazakh language and the works of the great Abai in the Uzbek language took place.
