Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan Strengthen Cooperation in Nuclear Energy
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — During the II International Nuclear Energy Summit in Paris, Uzbek and Kazakh officials held a working meeting to discuss bilateral cooperation in atomic energy.
The Uzbek delegation was led by Azim Akhmedkhadjaev, Director of the Agency for Atomic Energy, while the Kazakh side was represented by Almasadam Satkaliev, Chairman of the Kazakhstan Atomic Energy Agency. Discussions focused on the peaceful use of nuclear energy, nuclear and radiation safety, experience exchange, workforce training, and the creation of a joint working group to coordinate nuclear power plant projects in both countries.
Special emphasis was placed on the role of nuclear energy in achieving global climate goals, enhancing energy security, and supporting sustainable development in Central Asia, a region with growing energy demand.
An official visit by the Kazakh delegation to Uzbekistan is planned to continue the dialogue and explore specific initiatives in nuclear technology, infrastructure, and regional partnership.
