Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 21 December, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a law "On the accession of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the International Convention on the Simplification and Harmonization of Customs Procedures (Kyoto, on 18 May 1973, as amended on 26 June 1999)."
The document was adopted by the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis on 4 December and approved by the Senate on 19 December.
According to the law, Uzbekistan joins the International Convention on the Simplification and Harmonization of Customs Procedures.
At the same time, the Republic of Uzbekistan accepts all annexes and chapters of the Convention, with the exception of Chapter 3 (Cabotage transportation of goods) of Special Appendix "E".
The provisions of the Kyoto Convention were developed by the World Customs Organization in the form of recommendatory standards. Among the CIS countries, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Ukraine have previously joined the convention.
