Uzbekistan joins the CIS Advisory Council on consumer protection

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev approved documents in the field of consumer protection, operating within the CIS. By the Presidential Decree from 24 August 2020 No. PP-4813, the following were approved:

Agreement on the main directions of cooperation between the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States in the field of consumer protection (Moscow, on 25 January 2000);

Protocol on amendments to the Agreement on the main directions of cooperation of the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States in the field of consumer protection from 25 January 2000 (Minsk, on 19 May 2011).

Important to note that the Agency for the Protection of Consumer Rights under the Antimonopoly Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan has become a full member of the CIS Advisory Council for the Protection of Consumer Rights, the main activities of which are:

development of principles and rules for pursuing an agreed policy of cooperation between the CIS member states in the field of consumer protection, assistance in its practical implementation;

creation of an effective system for the exchange of information between government bodies and public organizations of the CIS member states, including on the national experience of ensuring the corresponding rights of citizens of the CIS member states, as well as on the world experience in consumer protection;

development and implementation of joint projects and measures in the main areas of activity;

assistance in harmonization of legislation and exchange of experience in the law enforcement practice of the CIS member states.

The CIS Advisory Council today includes Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, the Russian Federation, Tajikistan, and now Uzbekistan.

The Agency for the Protection of Consumer Rights, as a full member of the CIS Advisory Council, has the right to participate in the discussion of national draft legislative acts, as well as to submit its own ones for discussion.

And the most significant: this will ensure the protection of consumer rights of citizens of Uzbekistan on the territory of the participating countries, the same rule will apply for foreign citizens of the CIS countries on the territory of Uzbekistan.

It is worth noting that participation in the meeting of the Consultative Council on Consumer Rights Protection of the CIS member states is a platform for exchanging experience, an opportunity to receive important recommendations from foreign experts, and discuss global issues related to ensuring an adequate level of consumer protection in significant and relevant for all countries. Commonwealth spheres.
