Uzbekistan Joins Launch of New Trans-Caspian Transport Route

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Azerbaijan have jointly launched a pilot route connecting China – Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan – Azerbaijan (Baku) to strengthen transport cooperation and expand international logistics links.

The project is being implemented through cooperation between Turkmenistan’s Transport and Logistics Center (TULM), Uzbekistan’s O’ztemiryo’lkonteyner JSC, and Azerbaijan’s Alliance Multimodal. At the pilot stage, four 40-foot containers were dispatched from China.

Currently, the containers have arrived at the Osh station in Kyrgyzstan, where documentation is being processed and preparations are underway for further transport by rail through Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, and across the Caspian Sea to Baku.

Under the agreements reached, transit from Osh station to Baku is expected to take 12 calendar days.

The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TMTM) provides an important alternative to traditional logistics corridors, connecting China with Europe via Central Asia, the Caspian Sea, the Caucasus, and Türkiye. Uzbekistan’s participation further strengthens its position as a key regional logistics hub.
