Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 10 January 2021, a meeting was held between the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Sodyk Safoev with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to our country Yoshinori Fujiyama.

It was noted that in recent years, Uzbekistan and Japan have achieved significant results in the development of bilateral and multifaceted mutually beneficial cooperation. The visit of the President of Uzbekistan to the land of the rising sun in 2019 brought bilateral ties to a new stage of development.

The parties discussed the development of bilateral relations in the areas of trade, investment, economy, politics, education, culture, as well as inter-parliamentary relations.

The readiness was expressed to impart a dynamic character to the interaction between the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Parliament of Japan.

It was emphasized that bilateral relations were built on the principles of friendship, mutual respect and trust. And this year will mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the countries.

It was noted that in connection with this significant date, an inter-parliamentary conference will be held with the participation of parliamentarians, representatives of ministries and departments of the two countries, as well as Japanese companies and representative offices operating in Uzbekistan.

During the meeting, the parties discussed other issues of mutual interest.
