Uzbekistan - Japan: long-term cooperation strategy

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On the sidelines of the 4th Asia-Pacific Water Summit in Kumamoto, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov discussed with Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida the current state of the multifaceted Uzbek -Japanese cooperation, the progress of joint initiatives and issues of strengthening bilateral relations in the long term. 

A high assessment was given to the dynamics of development of bilateral trade, economic and investment cooperation, as well as the steadily growing interest of Japanese companies in doing business in Uzbekistan.

The parties briefly dwelled on major projects implemented in Uzbekistan with the involvement of Japanese corporations and financial organizations, noting their scale and significance for the socio-economic development of Uzbekistan. 

Further directions for developing partnerships were outlined in order to promote already agreed projects and initiatives, as well as further exchange of views on expanding mutually beneficial cooperation.

In a special vein, the mechanisms of bilateral cooperation in the field of improving the efficiency of water resources management and ensuring balanced water use in the Central Asian region were considered.

Following the meeting, mutual commitment was expressed to the timely implementation of existing agreements, as well as joint work to find new points of growth for bilateral partnership.
