Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A meeting between the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Japan Vladimir Norov and Yoshimas Hayashi took place in Tokyo.
The parties positively assessed the results of the 9th Meeting of the Dialogue "Central Asia + Japan" held today.
Vladimir Norov emphasized Uzbekistan’s readiness to further expand cooperation within the framework of the Dialogue to promote mutually beneficial projects in the areas of logistics, transport connectivity, education, and "green" energy.
The importance of the comprehensive implementation of the agreements reached as a result of contacts at the highest and high levels was noted.
The schedule of planned for 2023 was considered. events, including the next round of Uzbek-Japanese inter-MFA consultations.
The commitment of the two countries to continue the dialogue and provide mutual support within the framework of international institutions was reaffirmed.
The prospects for further building up trade, economic and investment cooperation were discussed.
Yoshimas Hayashi said that the business community of Japan, positively perceiving the measures taken in Uzbekistan to liberalize the economy, improve the business climate, develop a competitive environment, is ready to expand mutually beneficial ties with the republic, including making direct investments without sovereign guarantees from the Government. The first project of this kind will be the construction of a combined cycle power plant at the Syrdarya TPP with the participation of a consortium of Japanese companies.
It was indicated that there is a significant potential for cooperation in the textile industry through the inclusion of Uzbek companies in the chain of production of finished products under Japanese brands.
An exchange of views took place on expanding cooperation in the field of training and retraining of personnel, tourism and culture.
