Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan is interested in further development and strengthening of the CIS. Uzbek Foreign Minister Vladimir Norov stated this at a meeting of the CIS Ministerial Council in Dushanbe.

“Today we are witnessing permanent geopolitical turbulence, radically changing international relations, increased factors of instability and uncertainty, escalation of hotbeds of local armed conflicts, an increase in terrorist activity and the devastating consequences of environmental problems,” he said.

According to him, the consequences of these crisis phenomena have a serious impact on the entire space of the Commonwealth and create new challenges to peace and security, political stability, and the socio-economic development of the region.

The issues of ways to update the CIS, change the structure and principles of work, update the regulatory framework to achieve a qualitatively new level of interaction are of particular relevance, he noted.
