Uzbekistan is in the top 10 main trading partners of Kyrgyzstan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today Uzbekistan is in the top 10 main trading partners of Kyrgyzstan. This was stated by the head of the department of industry management of the Ministry of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic Aigul Sharshenova during the conference "Perspective directions for the development of the Uzbek-Kyrgyz strategic partnership".

According to her, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan are opening new pages in the history of relations. Bishkek and Tashkent have demonstrated their readiness to resolve accumulated issues on the basis of mutual respect, are making efforts to revive economic cooperation, which has contributed to a significant increase in trade relations between the two countries. Today, Uzbekistan is in the top 10 main trading partners of Kyrgyzstan. In addition, Uzbekistan, along with Russia, China, Switzerland, is one of the major partners of Kyrgyzstan in the field of industrial cooperation.

As Aigul Sharshenova noted, the countries plan to increase the number of joint projects in the production of finished textile, pharmaceutical, construction and agricultural products. For these purposes, it is planned to develop a program of trade and economic cooperation and development of industrial cooperation.

According to her, promising sectors of cooperation in this direction are light, food, electrical, metallurgical, petrochemical industries, as well as the production of building materials.

At the same time, the representative of the Ministry of Economy of Kyrgyzstan stated that joint spinning enterprises in Jalal-Abad region are already operating on the Kyrgyz territory, the ASKUE electricity metering system has been introduced and calcium carbide is being produced, and there is also a plan for implementing a project for the primary processing of travertine with the involvement of funds from the Uzbek-Kyrgyzstan development fund.

“To stimulate the joint production of passenger cars, the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan is taking a number of measures. In particular, it is planned to provide customs and tax benefits. With their further implementation, additional preferences will be provided,” the expert stressed.

The conference, organized by ISMI jointly with the National Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, was attended by experts from leading scientific and analytical centers, as well as ministries and departments of the two countries.

The participants of the event exchanged views on the results of Uzbek-Kyrgyz cooperation achieved in recent years, outlined prospects for further strengthening cooperation in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian spheres.
