Uzbekistan - Iran: innovation, industry and technology

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In Tehran, a government delegation of Uzbekistan led by Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov visited the Iranian House of Innovation and Technology.

The delegation members got acquainted with the advanced achievements of Iranian colleagues in the fields of science, industrial and digital technologies, trade and agriculture.

During the visit to the Center, negotiations were held with the Vice-President of the Islamic Republic of Iran for Innovation and Technology, Suren Sattori. The parties discussed measures to intensify bilateral scientific and technical cooperation in promising areas, including in the fields of biotechnology, healthcare, the IT sector, nanotechnology and agriculture. The relevance of establishing close interdepartmental cooperation with the Ministry of Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan was noted, which will make it possible to systematize cooperation in the exchange of experience and technologies and the implementation of joint innovative projects.

Mutual interest was also expressed in attracting Iranian high-tech innovative companies to expand activities in Uzbekistan and exchange experience and specialists with leading Uzbek industrial enterprises. An agreement was reached on establishing practical cooperation between the Tehran technopark "Pardis" and the innovation technopark "Yashnabad" in Tashkent.

The Iranian side proposed to attract leading universities, research institutes and representatives of the private sector of Uzbekistan to participate in international events in the field of science and innovation held in Iran, such as "Iran Lab Expo", "Innotex" and "Innoweek", as well as to organize joint seminars and scientific conferences on an ongoing basis.

Special attention was paid to the activation of partnership in the field of pharmaceuticals. Mutual readiness was voiced to develop cooperation on the introduction of advanced Iranian experience in the production of popular medical preparations.

As a result of the talks, an agreement was reached on developing a dialogue between the relevant ministries and departments of the two countries in order to promote practical cooperation and implement new joint projects in the field of innovation, science and technology.
