Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan and India are preparing to hold business forums in Tashkent and Samarkand as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral trade and economic cooperation.
The initiative was discussed during a meeting between Uzbekistan’s Ambassador Sardor Rustambaev and Jyoti Vij, Director General of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, according to the Dunyo news agency.
The sides reviewed preparations for the upcoming session of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, and Scientific-Technical Cooperation between Uzbekistan and India, scheduled to take place in April in Tashkent.
During the talks, the Uzbek side proposed organizing business forums in both Tashkent and Samarkand on the sidelines of the commission meeting, emphasizing the importance of participation by leading entrepreneurs from both countries. Jyoti Vij confirmed FICCI’s readiness to support the visit of a high-level Indian business delegation to Uzbekistan.
In addition, the parties agreed to hold an online meeting in the first half of April involving Indian companies, as well as relevant ministries and industry associations from Uzbekistan.
The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry is the largest national business association in India and a key partner of the government, representing more than 250,000 companies through regional chambers of commerce and industry. It plays a major role in shaping economic policy dialogue, promoting India as an investment destination, and organizing international B2B and B2G events.
