Uzbekistan increases gas exports and reduces energy imports
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In January–September 2025, Uzbekistan increased its gas exports while reducing imports, according to data from the National Statistics Committee.
From January to September, the country exported gas worth US$546.2 million, up 15.4% compared to the same period in 2024. China remains the main destination for Uzbek gas exports.
According to Chinese data, Uzbekistan exported natural gas to China worth US$629.9 million over the same period.
Meanwhile, exports of oil, petroleum products, and similar materials amounted to US$456.4 million, down 1.1% year-on-year.
Gas imports fell to US$932.3 million, a 29.7% decrease compared to the same period in 2024. Russia and Turkmenistan remain the main suppliers.
Imports of oil and petroleum products totaled US$1.466 billion, down 4.1%, while imports of motor gasoline reached US$1.148 billion, up 1.8%.
Overall, Uzbekistan’s energy sector demonstrated mixed trends in January–September 2025, the National Statistics Committee reported.
