Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan rose to 114th place with 57.2 points in the Index of Economic Freedom from 140th place and 53.3 points held last year, Dunyo news agency reported with reference to Ministry of Finance of the country.
Uzbekistan showed the highest growth in the ranking among the CIS countries compared to last year with an improvement of 26 positions.
The index is closely monitored by foreign investors, and further improvement of the republic’s position in the index will have a positive impact on the business climate, and may also serve to increase the flow of foreign direct investment.
The Index of Economic Freedom estimates countries around the world on a scale from 0 (lowest) to 100 (highest) in four main areas, each of 12 composite indicators. Among them are property rights, the effectiveness of the judiciary, government participation, tax burden, government spending, fiscal health, freedom of business, freedom of the labor market, monetary freedom, freedom of trade, freedom of investment and financial freedom.
This year, Uzbekistan showed the highest growth in the following composite index indicators:
- Freedom of investment - 20 points (+10 points);
- Financial freedom - 20 points (+10 points);
- Property rights - 59.1 points (+9.3 points).
